Diabetic retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes. Most commonly affecting patients who have poor sugar control over a long period of time. The high sugar level in the blood causes damage to the blood vessels in the retina, which is the tissue at the back of the eye that senses light rays and allow us to see.
Cataract
Cataract is clouding and thickening of the normally clear and transparent lens. This eventually impairs the ability of the lens to focus the light rays in the back of the eye. As a result, the vision becomes blurry and distorted. Patients with cataracts can also complain of glare problems and in worst cases, blindness.
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a common but treatable eye condition. Unlike the normal round eyeball, the eyeball of someone with Astigmatism is oval or egg shaped. This imperfection in the eye curvature, results in the light rays reaching the back of the eye unevenly focused, which causes blurriness in near and distance views.
