A distinguished Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery Specialist, brings over two decades of experience and expertise to the field of ophthalmology. Graduating from medical school in 1997, her journey into ophthalmology was inspired during an elective rotation when witnessing the life-changing impact of cataract surgery on a patient. This defining moment ignited her passion to become an ophthalmologist, dedicated to bringing joy and improved vision to people’s lives. Now after becoming a renowned Cornea and Cataract surgeon and a senior consultant, her biggest joy is drawing a smile on all her patients’ faces and be sure to give them the highest quality services.

Education / Experience
After choosing ophthalmology as her elective rotation during medical school, Dr. Hajer pursued residency training in Dubai before returning to Bahrain. Over her illustrious 23-year tenure at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), she received invaluable training from pioneers of ophthalmology in Bahrain. During that time Dr. Hajer expertise allowed her to independently perform major ophthalmic surgeries, even prior to her fellowship. Her pursuit of excellence continued with more than 3000 cataract surgeries and 1500 corneal surgeries during her consultancy at SMC from 2017 to 2022.
Having retired from the Ministry of Health in July 2022, Dr. Hajer joined Almosawi Specialist Center in 2018, where she currently resides and provides her invaluable expertise.
Why Ophthalmology?
I decided to become an ophthalmologist after a transformative encounter with a post-cataract surgery patient. Witnessing the profound impact of restored vision on the patient’s life is what fueled my determination to bring such happiness to others. This pivotal moment guided me through years of dedicated training and surgical practice, shaping me into the specialist I am today.
