Refractive Surgeries

These are surgical procedures that correct refractive errors including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, eliminating the need of contact lenses or glasses.

CATARACT

Cataract

Cataract is the clouding and thickening of the normally clear lens, impairing its ability to focus light on the back of the eye. This leads to blurry, distorted vision and, in severe cases, blindness.

Astigmatism

A common and treatable eye condition, involves an oval-shaped eyeball, unlike the normal round shape. This uneven curvature results in light rays being unevenly focused, causing blurriness in near and distance vision.

Retinal Conditions

The retina, a layer of light-sensing cells at the back of the eye, connects to the brain via the optic nerve. It converts incoming light rays into signals, forming images in the brain.

Amblyopia

Also known as "Lazy Eye," amblyopia occurs during early development when vision is still forming. If one eye is weaker, the brain relies on the stronger eye, worsening the weaker one. Untreated, it can cause permanent impairment.

Chalazion

Blocked oil glands in the eyelid cause a red, swollen lump called a chalazion. Over time, it becomes firm and can last for weeks. A stye, also from gland blockage but due to infection, is painful and short-lived.

Corneal Conditions

The cornea, the eye's transparent outer layer, serves to protect against dirt and germs, block UV light, and refract light to produce a focused image.

Diabetic retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy, a diabetes complication, often affects those with poor sugar control over time. Elevated blood sugar damages retina blood vessels, hindering light sensing and vision.

Myopia

Myopia, or nearsightedness, results in clear near vision but blurry distance vision. Light focuses in front of the retina, causing symptoms like squinting, eye pain, discomfort, or headaches.

GLAUCOMA

Glaucoma

The optic nerve connects the eye and the brain. Glaucoma, often from high eye pressure, harms it, leading to irreversible vision loss. Early detection is crucial for preserving eyesight.

Hypermetropia

Hypermetropia, or farsightedness, causes clear distance vision but blurry near vision because light focuses behind the retina. Symptoms include squinting, eye pain, discomfort, or headaches.

PRESBYOND

It's a cutting-edge refractive surgery, fine-tuning each eye's focus depth for personalized correction. This approach offers clear vision, contrast sensitivity, and seamless binocular vision across all distances.

Paediatric Ophthalmology

Pediatric ophthalmology focuses on children's eye health, addressing issues like crossed eyes, lazy eyes, eyelid drooping, refractive errors, congenital glaucoma, cataracts, and retinopathy of prematurity, which can cause blindness.

Squint

Normally both eyes look at the same direction. When each eye looks at a different direction the eyes look crossed, this is known as squint. It can present at birth, or any time later in life.

Oculoplastic

Experience precision and artistry as our oculoplastic surgeon blends ophthalmology and plastic surgery. Whether for corrective procedures, aesthetic enhancements, or eyelid treatments, we optimize eye and adnexa form and function.

Presbyopia

The lens is a flexible elastic structure, its shape can be changed by the small muscles that are attached to it. When looking at something close like in reading, the muscles contract increasing the curvature of the lens adjusting the focusing power.

Vision Therapy

Vision therapy also called vision training is a modern treatment modality that targets children and adults. It aims at improving visual skills such as eye alignment, eye tracking, focusing and eye movement.
