Accumulative experience of 20 years with 15 of them in the Kingdom of  Bahrain; Including Bahrain Defense Force Hospital, Dr. Haifa Eye Center & Gulf Diabetes Center (Joslin).

Specialized in medical and surgical management of diseases affecting retina including Diabetic Retinopathy & Retinal Detachments.

Has great experience in operating cataracts using Phaco – emulsification techniques with special interest in therapeutic lasers.

Education / Experience

Being one of the top five graduates on his college in bachelor’s in medicine and surgery, Dr. Samer began his journey in ophthalmology in 2000. Achieving Master Degree Certification in 2002 then FRCS in 2003, he devoted 20 years to quality health care in various eye hospitals across Bahrain. Among those were 3 years in Bahrain Defense Force Hospital where he helped build & equip the retinal surgery section in its ophthalmology department. In 2019, motivated by rising standard of care; he joined Almosawi Eye Specialist Center.

Why Ophthalmology?

When I was in medical school, my mother developed a Retinal Detachment which needed two surgeries. During that time, I developed a passion for the field despite requiring a high level of skill and stuffed full of challenges. It seemed like a true calling. Restoring vision or a part of it is a joy and always counts as a major life turning event that I feel lucky witnessing it as it unfolds.
