Why Ophthalmology?
Ophthalmology is a competitive specialty to get into. I was privileged to work with some exceptional ophthalmologists, nurses, optometrists, and orthoptists, which highlighted the benefits of working well as part of a diverse and interdisciplinary team.
I enjoyed the physics component of ophthalmology as well as utilising all the different devices and the ongoing technological advancements. I am particularly passionate about the combination of medicine and surgery that ophthalmology offers.
My fascination with accuracy and “attention to detail” is significant in this extremely complex, multidisciplinary profession. Ophthalmology is a wonderful specialty, and I picked it with love and passion because I want to change patients’ lives and I believe in bringing hope.
