MYOPIA
Myopia or near sightedness, is when near vision is clear, but distance vision is blurry. This happens because, light rays become focused in front of the retina instead of precisely on it. As a result of this, one can feel the need to squint to see clearly, experience eye pain, general eye discomfort or headache.
This condition can present at any age, with puberty being the most common. Myopia requires intervention to improve vision because unlike hypermetropia it does not correct itself as one grows.

Surgery
Myopia can be corrected by using concave lenses, to bring back the light rays to their correct place on the retina making the vision clear. Contact lenses or glasses can be used to achieve this. Furthermore, laser eye surgery with its different modalities is another option. The best timing for such surgeries is mid-twenties as the vision usually stabilizes at this age.
